For the final installment in this vacation guest post series, Lauren of Undeclared Panache was kind enough to put together this post with tips on what to do if you can't go on a big trip.1. Get a hotel. Maybe you can't afford a big vacation, but perhaps you can afford one night away. It makes a huge different to wake up in a new place. You can wander out the door and find a cute spot for brunch or a new antique shop. If a hotel isn't in your budget, explore airbnb or homeexchange.com. Both great, affordable options to getaway, even if it is only 20 minutes down the road.
2. Pack up the car and go. If your staycation is only a one day excursion, make it count. Load up the car and don't come back to the house for the entire day. Whether you are packing a picnic and heading to the beach or riding bikes to a new neighborhood, make it count!
3. Find a new adventure. Could be down the road or a two hours drive, surely there is something you haven't explored. A museum and fantastic lunch spot? Dinner, then ice cream and a free concert in the town square?
4. Camp out. Pitch the tent in the yard and really pretend you're in the wilderness. Play cards, have hotdogs and s'mores over the fire, tell ghost stories, turn the motion sensor light off and leave your iPad in the house.
